HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team wraps up the regular season road stand this weekend, traveling to Wayne State on Thursday and Saginaw Valley Saturday.

About the Warriors

With four games left in the regular season, Wayne State is 10-14 overall and 4-11 in the loop. The Warriors most recently dropped a weekend of contests, falling to Lake Superior State (92-90) in double overtime on Thursday, before falling 77-66 at Ferris State on Saturday.

Carmelo Harris is the Warriors leading scorer with 13.3 points per outing–scoring in double-figures in 15 games this season. Harris also averages over two 3-pointers per outing to lead WSU.

Wayne State sees five players scoring between 9.9 points and 8.4 points, with Ray Williams Jr. posting 9.9 points and a team-high six rebounds a game.

As a team, Wayne State holds its opponents to 72.4 points per game with the best perimeter defense in the league, holding opponents to 34.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Tech won the first meeting of the season 84-77 on Dec. 9.

About the Cardinals

Saginaw Valley enters the week with an overall record of 13-11 and 6-9 in the GLIAC. SVSU is on a two-game losing skid, falling at Ferris State (78-72) on Thursday and 77-69 at Lake Superior State Saturday.

SVSU boasts one of the top defenses in the league, holding opponents to 73.8 points on 43.1 from the field. Additionally, the Cardinals are producing 4.5 blocks a game, which ranks top-20 nationally and first in the league. Kevonne Taylor averages nearly three blocks per game (2.84) to be the anchor defensively for the Cardinals.

Saginaw Valley has three players averaging over 15 points per outing, with Toodles Seal leading the way with 18.3 points. He is joined by Tre Garrett (17.3) and Freddie McIntosh (16.3). McIntosh is the team's sharper shooter, with over 50 3-pointers made this season, averaging 2.42 per game.

The Huskies fell to the Cardinals 78-77 in the first meeting of the season.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech is on a three-game win streak, holding an overall record of 9-14 and 6-8 in league play. The Huskies most recently took down No. 24 nationally-ranked Northern Michigan 80-69 in front of an electric crowd of over 1,300 last Saturday.

Sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek scored 34 points while shooting an astounding seven-for-10 from beyond the arc and 12-for-21 from the field. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and earned his third GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for his performance Saturday. He remains atop the league with 22.1 points per game, which ranks eighth in the country.

Dan Gherezgher has found a groove over the last three games, averaging 21.3 points per game on 56.8 percent from the field and a team-leading eight rebounds, making a lethal offensive duo between him and Tomashek.

Pete Calcaterra and Adam Hobson are averaging over eight points off the bench over the last three games, which have been valuable components to the three-game win streak.

Calcaterra remains the team's top rebounder with 6.6 rebounds per outing.
