HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team played a complete game to dash past Parkside in a 74-52 win at the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies complete the series sweep over Parkside while holding them to a conference-low 52 points to elevate to 8-14 overall and 5-8 in the GLIAC. Parkside falls to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in the loop.

"I'm really proud of how we played defensively–Dan and Nate did a great job on Palmer," head coach Josh Buettner said. "I thought we moved the ball well again offensively. I was happy with Hobson and Pete–they stepped up today and had big baskets down the stretch for us."

The Rangers got out to an early lead with back-to-back buckets in the paint area to have a 4-2 advantage after 80 seconds of play. However, that would be the last Parkside lead of the day as the Huskies scored on its next two possessions to make it 6-4 with a 3-pointer by Marcus Tomashek on the following offensive trip, making it a five-point Tech lead (9-4).

Tech's lead would swell to double-digits at the 6:36 mark, with Adam Hobson coming off the bench to hit back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 28-18 in favor of the Huskies.

"Last week was a bit of a struggle so to come back home and play really well is big for us," Hobson mentioned. "We simplified things and talked about what we could work on and just tried to play Michigan Tech basketball. Finding out how I can be impactful for the team was big and I'm happy I could make some plays for the team and be solid defensively."

Hobson scored eight of his 13 points in the first half, his highest-scoring game in 2024. Dan Gherezgher and Marcus Tomashek each accounted for nine points in the opening 20 minutes while the team shot 50 percent from the field to head into halftime with a 36-27 advantage.

The Huskies stayed consistent in the second half, scoring 38 points compared to the Rangers' 29, while increasing the field goal percentage, shooting 60 percent in the final 20 minutes.

Marcus Tomashek led all scorers in the second half with 13 points, as Calcaterra and Hobson combined for 12 points off the bench.

Michigan Tech hovered around a 10-point lead for the first 13:30 before finally breaking away with the largest lead coming at the end of the game at 74-52. Tomashek and Gherezgher accounted for eight of the Huskies' final 11 points.

Marcus Tomashek led four Huskies in double-figure scoring with 22 points and recorded a team-high four assists. Dan Gherezgher recorded his second-straight double-double with 16 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds while dishing out three assists.
