BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team was unable to overcome 52 points in the paint from No. 20 ranked Ferris State, dropping the final game of a five-contest road stand, 79-63 at the Jim Wink Arena on Saturday.

"We didn't look like a very good basketball team," head coach Josh Buettner said. "We looked tired, sick, worn down, all the above and those are all excuses–some guys were competing, but we really missed Josh Terrian and a lot of people don't realize how important he is in terms of competitive spirit and leadership and we missed him bringing things together. At the start of the second half, we had a little bit of good fight but then we would turn it over or miss open shots."

Michigan Tech (6-14, 3-8 GLIAC) hung with Ferris State (17-5, 7-4 GLIAC) through 3:31, with Adam Hobson tying it at 6-all with a jump shot following seven missed shots in the opening frames from the Bulldogs.

Ferris State then put together an 11-0 run over the next five minutes to take its first double-digit lead of the contest, with Dolapo Olayinka and Vejas Grazulis each accounting for four points in the stanza.

The Bulldogs sustained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the first half, with Dan Gherezgher connecting on a jump shot with 1:28 to play to conclude the scoring for the first 20 minutes, showing the Huskies trailing 37-23.

The Huskies shot 46.7 percent from the field in the second half, scoring 40 points. However, the Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas, producing 42 points on 64.3 percent from the field, despite going 2-for-7 from long range, hitting their only two 3-pointers in the final two minutes of play.

Marcus Tomashek hit his second 3-pointer of the game with 13:35 to play to cut the lead down to single digits (48-40) before the Bulldogs strung together an 8-0 run over the next two minutes.

FSU's lead would grow to as much as 18 points with a putback layup from Owen Hardy at the 3:05 mark.

Tomashek scored the final five points for the Huskies, following an and-one by Pete Calcaterra, although the Bulldogs cruised to the finish line by a score of 79-63.

Marcus Tomashek netted a team-high 22 points as Nate Abel secured a career-high seven rebounds.

Ben Davidson led three Bulldogs in double-figures with his team-leading 20 points. DeSean Munson produced 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Dolapo Olayinka scored 14 points to go with six rebounds and five assists.
