BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Kyle Monroe of the Michigan Tech men's basketball team has been selected to the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, announced by the conference office following Sunday's Championship game. Monroe helped guide the Huskies to the No. 4 seed in this year's tournament and a spot in the GLIAC Final Four.
Monroe, a sophomore forward from Green Bay, Wisconsin, recorded a combined 49 points in two games, including a 27-point performance in a 92-84 win over Wayne State in the quarterfinals Tuesday night in the SDC. His point output pushed him past 1,000 career points in just two years at Tech. Monroe converted 16 of 28 total shots from the field (57.1%) during the tournament, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out seven assists.
Monroe powered the Huskies with a team high 20.1 points per game scoring average while grabbing a team best 7.2 rebounds each time he took the floor. Monroe now owns 1,027 career points going into the 2017-18 season as a junior. The complete 2017 GLIAC All-Tournament Team is below.
