THIS WEEK'S NOTES

STAT OF THE WEEK
13 • Years since Tech last played at the Owensboro Sportscenter. The event was the 2002 NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Huskies lost to Lewis 62-51 in regional semifinal.

HELLER WITH SECOND CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Senior Luke Heller scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Tech's 74-68 loss to Minnesota Duluth last Thursday (Nov. 19). It was just the third double-digit rebound game and second double-double for the 6-6 forward. His only other double-double came with 11 points and 12 rebounds vs. Northwood in an 83-81 victory on Feb. 19, 2015.

MONROE GOES FOR 19 IN DEBUT
True freshman Kyle Monroe had an impressive debut with 19 points and eight rebounds vs. Minnesota Duluth. The 6-6 forward shot 7-of-14 from the floor and added four free throws. His 19-point debut was the most by a Tech freshman since Austin Armga's 29 vs. Bemidji State on Nov. 16, 2010.

HEATH HITS FIVE TRIPLES
Guard Bryan Heath made five 3-pointers in his first career game and finished with 18 points vs. Minnesota Duluth. The 6-5 guard made three in the opening half and two more after intermission. After just one game, Heath's 5.0 per-game average is the highest current in the GLIAC.

HISTORY VS. SWU AND KWC
Michigan Tech will face the Clemson, S.C.-based Southern Wesleyan University for the first time in men's basketball on Friday (Nov. 27). On Saturday (Nov. 28), the Huskies will take on Kentucky Wesleyan. It will be just the second-ever meeting with the Panthers. The first was a 1998 NCAA Great Lakes Regional semifinal meeting in Owensboro, which KWC won 78-68.

THE PROGRAM
Michigan Tech is coming off its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2014-15. The Huskies went 19-9 a year ago and have amassed 910 wins in program history. Over the last five years, Tech has won 97 games — just under 20 per season.

REPLACING AN ALL-AMERICAN
For the third consecutive season, Michigan Tech will attempt to replace an All-American who graduated from the program. Ali Haidar (2012-13), Austin Armga (2013-14) and Ben Stelzer (2014-15) all three gained All-America status in their senior seasons.

COACH LUKE
Head coach Kevin Luke has coached in more than 600 career games as Michigan Tech's skipper, with a 380-228 record (.625 winning percentage).  Luke is in his 22nd season on the bench for the Huskies and has led Tech to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and six GLIAC Titles. He is a four-time GLIAC Coach of the Year and was the 2002-03 NABC National Coach of the Year. The Huskies have had seven 20-win seasons under Luke.

NEXT UP
Tech will open its 2015-16 GLIAC schedule with a pair of home games. The Huskies host Malone on Thursday (Dec. 3) at 7:30 and Walsh on Saturday (Dec. 5) at 3 p.m.
