Sherbinow Named a 2016 Don Hansen NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Fullback Alex Sherbinow of the Michigan Tech football team has been selected as a 2016 Don Hansen NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American for his performance on the field this past season. Sherbinow earned a spot on the Don Hansen All-Super Region Four Second Team earlier this month. The Don Hansen Football Committee announced the NCAA Division II squad on Monday.

Sherbinow, a junior from Marquette Michigan, had four rushing touchdowns and two touchdown receptions for the Huskies in 2016. He was also a pivotal piece in the running game as a lead blocker for the Tech ground assault which racked up 1,477 yards this past year. This is the second postseason award for Sherbinow who was also selected as a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honoree following the 2016 campaign. Sherbinow has combined for 13 rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns the past two season, making him a major scoring threat for the Huskies in the red zone.

Michigan Tech wrapped up the season 4-6, but had huge wins over Ashland and another Miner's Cup victory in overtime at Northern Michigan. The Huskies are now making preparations for the 2017 campaign under first year Head Coach Steve Olson.
