HUSKIES-MAVERICKS TO PLAY FOR WCHA LEAD THIS WEEKEND
In arguably its biggest regular season hockey series in decades, No. 4 Michigan Tech will travel to face No. 2 Minnesota State this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 27-28) for the WCHA lead. Games are set for 8:07 p.m. ET each night. The Huskies sit just one point back of the Mavericks atop the WCHA standings with four games to go. Tech is looking for its first WCHA title since 1973-74. Both Tech and MSU had last weekend off after returning from Alaska. Michigan Tech continues to lead the nation in wins (24), total goals (120) and scoring margin (+1.97 per game).

HOCKEY TICKETS FOR NMU, WCHA PLAYOFFS AVAILABLE

Michigan Tech wraps up its regular season home schedule on Friday, Mar. 6, vs. arch rival Northern Michigan. The following weekend (Mar. 13-15), Tech will host WCHA Playoff games or the first time in 22 years with a best-of-three series vs. a yet-to-be-determined opponent. Tickets for all Tech hockey games can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office in the Student Development Complex, online at BuyHuskiesTickets.com or over the phone by calling 906-487-2073.

WOMEN CLINCH HOME COURT; WRAP REGULAR SEASON ON TV

One week after the Michigan Tech women’s basketball team claimed the program’s 13th GLIAC North Division title, the Huskies clinched the league’s best overall record and home court advantage throughout the GLIAC Tournament. Tech saw its 13-game winning streak come to an end in a 96-90 overtime loss at Northwood, but split the weekend with a 72-61 win at Lake Superior State. The Black and Gold have wrapped up the top seed in the league playoff, but have an important game to finish the regular season at Northern Michigan on Thursday (Feb. 26). The game will be televised live on Fox UP.

MEN’S BASKETBALL SEEKS REVENGE VS. WILDCATS

The Tech men’s basketball team prevailed in overtime at Northwood 83-81 last Thursday (Feb. 19) before falling by two (74-72) at No. 19-ranked Lake Superior State on Saturday (Feb. 21). The 18-7 Huskies sit in a tie for third in the GLIAC standings with one game to go, and can finish as high as second or as low as fourth depending upon this week’s results. Tech ends the regular season Thursday (Feb. 26) at Northern Michigan, looking to get back at their rivals after a 67-62 loss to the Wildcats in Houghton earlier this month (Feb. 2).
