HOCKEY
No. 11 Michigan Tech opened the postseason with a series sweep of St. Thomas. The Huskies shut out the Tommies 1-0 Friday and won 5-4 Saturday to advance to the CCHA Mason Cup Semifinals. Brett Thorne scored the lone goal Friday, and Blake Pietila had 30 saves for his 10th shutout of the season. Kyle Kukkonen and Tristan Ashbrook each scored twice Saturday, and Jack Works also found the back of the net. Tech improved to 24-9-4 and will host Northern Michigan on Saturday at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Michigan Tech earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will be the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region playing No. 5 Trevecca Nazarene at host Ashland on Friday at 7:30 p.m. As the second seed in the GLIAC Tournament over the week, Tech advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Championship with wins over Wayne State (80-71) and Ferris State (68-57). The Huskies fell to No. 5 Grand Valley State in the title game 62-54 on Sunday. Isabella Lenz and Ellie Mackay were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 8 seeded Huskies made a run to the GLIAC Tournament Championship Game with a 73-68 win at Parkside on Wednesday and a 73-69 semifinal victory over Grand Valley State. Tech fell 79-66 to Northern Michigan Sunday to end the season. Marcus Tomashek and Dan Gherezgher were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team. The Huskies finished the season 10-20 overall, winnings six of their final 11 games.

NORDIC SKIING
Michigan Tech travels to Lake Placid, New York for the NCAA Championship this week. The Huskies will race in the freestyle on Thursday and the classic on Saturday.
