VOLLEYBALL
Tech went 4-0 at the Illinois Springfield Capital Classic over the weekend. The Huskies swept three of the four with sweeps over McKendree, Lake Erie, and UIS. The Black and Gold also defeated No. 8 Northwest Missouri State 3-1 Friday. Olivia Ghormley (4.67 k/s) and Anna Jonynas (4.0 k/s) led the attack. Laura De Marchi (11.8 a/s) set the offense and Carissa Beyer (4.8 d/s) led the defense. Tech hosts Grand Valley State Friday, Davenport Saturday, and Ferris State Sunday to open GLIAC play at the SDC Gym.

SOCCER
The Huskies split their weekend in Minnesota. Tech fell 2-1 at Bemidji State Friday and bounced back with an 8-0 victory at Minnesota Crookston Sunday. Julia Pietila had five goals on the weekend, including a school-record four tallies on Sunday. Haldey Wells, Allison Thelen, Alexis Shatrau, and Anna Gulan also scored against the Golden Eagles. Tech hosts Davenport Friday and Grand Valley State Sunday to begin GLIAC play at Kearly Stadium.

CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country teams began their seasons at the Wayne State Warrior Invitational on Friday. The men won the meet and the women came in second. Clayton Sayen (third), Samuel Lange (sixth), and Nick Niemi (ninth) were all top-10 finishers. Michelle Bollini led the women in fourth place, while Sam Kurkowski was fifth and Elsa Huckels placed 12th. Tech has a week off before the Roy Griak Invitational on September 24.

FOOTBALL
The Huskies fell 12-9 to St. Thomas Saturday at Kearly Stadium. Fred Kemp had a 38-yard punt return for a touchdown and Drew Wyble hit a 25-yard field goal for the other Tech points. Marvin Wright (10) and Braxton Blackwell (9) led the team in tackles. The Huskies have a bye week before hosting Grand Valley State at Kearly Stadium on September 25.
