John "Wally" Wright
Inducted October 20, 1990

There is little doubt that John "Wally" Wright is the finest men's tennis player ever to compete for the Huskies. He was a four-year letterwinner (1976-79) during his Michigan Tech tennis career.

His list of accomplishments is amazing. Four straight seasons he captured the Northern Intercollegiate Conference Championship at No. 1 singles and four straight seasons he was named the team's most valuable player.

In 1976 and again in 1979, he was also teammed to win the NIC title at No. 1 doubles, which in turn helped him gain NIC Most Valuable Player honors both years.

His outstanding career was capped off when he was honored by his peers as Michigan Tech's Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1979.
