Henry "Hank" Akervall
Inducted October 20, 1990

When talking of the great defenseman to play at Michigan Tech over the years, certainly Henry "Hank" Akervall's name is one of the first mentioned.

He was a three year letterwinner in hockey for the Huskies (1959-62) and also lettered four years in track (1958-62). It is his hockey abilities, however, that are best remembered.

His sophomore season, he gained first-team All-WCHA honors and second-team All-America laurels in what would be a prelude to the elite honors he would garner his senior season.

That senior season came in 1962 when Akervall helped the Huskies achieve the goal every team begins the season with, the NCAA Championship. Along with being a major part of that illustrious year, Akervall gained first-team All-WCHA, All-America, and NCAA All-Tournnament recognition.

Akervall was a part of Team Canada during the 1964 olympics.

Henry passed away on February 18, 2000 at the age of 62.
