One of only three defensive lineman ever to be named Most Valuable Player at Michigan Tech, Dan Hazebrook played football for the Huskies in 1957 and 1958.

A two-time letterwinner, Hazebrook, who played both on the offensive and defensive line and was the fastest player on the squad, gained Academic All-American honorable mention status his first season.

His second and final year, Hazebrook captained the team to a 4-4-0 record. He was named to the Associated Press Little All-American Special Mention List and also gained All-Northern States College conference Second Team honors. In addition, he was named to the All-Michigan Second Team and gained Academic All-American honorable mention status. Hazebrook was also honored by his teammates with both the Alan Bovard Award as most Valuable Player and the Fred Baird Memorial Award as the team's Outstanding Defensive Player.
