Daniel J. Van Abel
Inducted November 2, 1991

One of the best receivers during what might be called the "glory days" of MTU football, Dan Van Abel helped the Huskies to NIC titles in both 1963 and 1965.

A four-year letterwinner in football, he was the Huskies leading receiver his final three years. As co-captain his junior and senior years Van Abel was recognized as an All-NIC selection in 1964 and 1965.

A member of Blue Key National Honor Society during his stay at MTU, Van Abel was named to the Michigan Small Colleges All-State Second Team his final two years in a Huskies uniform.

Since leaving MTU, Van Abel has continued his support of Michigan Tech through annual Alumni Association membership and various work in fundraising efforts for the University.

Van Abel also participated in track for one season.
