Travel, Accomodations, and Dining

See our Travel and Accomodations page for a list of airports. Visit Keweenaw and the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce have information about lodging and dining options. Michigan Tech also has a visitors guide with campus maps useful for locating facilities and parking, as well as some information on dining and lodging.

Getting to the Michigan Tech Nordic Center

The Michigan Tech trails webpage has information about the trail system, including trail maps and links to webcams. The Nordic center is located on Sharon Avenue directly across from the football stadium. See this map for parking and spectator access information. Spectators park in the Kearly Stadium Lot 85, right accross from the trail access road, or in Lot 24 between Kearly Stadium and Gates Tennis Center, a short walk to the stadium.

Trailhead Rules and Etiquette

Dogs are not allowed at the trailhead nor the venue.

Parking at the trailhead is limited to coaches and race officials. Additional parking is across Sharon Avenue (see this map for details).

Grooming of non-race trails is not guaranteed on race days and official training days.

There are no warming facilities at the trailhead; please plan accordingly. Michigan Tech's athletic facility, the Student Development Complex, is a five-minute walk from the trailhead and open to competitors, coaches, and visitors.

Race Schedule

Race days are January 2, January 4, January 6, and January 7. See the race schedule page for details.

Other Nordic Ski Trails

There are three other Nordic ski trails within a 20-minute drive of Michigan Tech. We encourage you to visit these trails if you wish to ski on race days or official training days. You will find complete information about the Chassell, Swedetown, and Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids trail systems on the Keweenaw Trails website.

About the Keweenaw

The Keweenaw Peninsula is a beautiful place in the winter, with ample opportunities for skiing, snow biking, snowshoeing, and alpine skiing. The Keweenaw Trails website has information about opportunities at trail systems, and Visit Keweenaw has information about area attractions and other opportunities.
