Huskies add transfer Abbi Perkins for 2024 season

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech volleyball has added Abbi Perkins to its recruiting class for the 2024 season. Perkins is transferring to Tech from Aquanis College as a fifth-year student-athlete.

Perkins is a 6-1 right-side/middle hitter from Spring Lake, Michigan. She was a two-time First Team All-Wolverine—Hoosier Athletic Conference selection. As a senior, she ranked second in the conference in total kills (430) and was second in kills per set (3.68) in conference matches. She scored 480 points, averaging 4.0 per set, and hit .280 in conference play. Perkins hit double digits in kills 20 times. The Saints went 31-9 overall in 2023 with a second-place finish in the conference and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament.

"Abbi is an impressive and versatile athlete who can be a major presence at the net," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "Strong and touching over 10 feet, Abbi can score with the best of them and will most definitely add to our already quite physical front line. She can play all three front positions and really proved herself this season on the right side for her team. I've seen Abbi play a number of times, and we're fortunate to have her coming our way for next season.

"This is truly a mutually beneficial situation for both Abbi and our program. We get a terrific young woman, with quality college experience and a heck of an arm here with us, and Abbi will add a Tech degree and get one final year of playing high-level ball with the Huskies. I'm excited to work with Abbi and to see what she brings to the gym."

She will graduate from Aquanis in the spring with a bachelor's degree in business and arts management and will pursue her MBA at Tech next year.

Prior to college, Perkins was named to the Muskegon Area Dream Team, honorable mention all-state, and all-region at Spring Lake High School. She was a two-time all-conference selection and all-academic team selection. Perkins also played for Inside Out Volleyball Club and played three years of varsity basketball and two years of varsity tennis in high school.
