Tech Soccer Sees Four Sign for the 2024 Season

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech soccer head coach Bulut Ozturk is thrilled to unveil four student-athletes to the 2024 recruiting class, a group of talented student-athletes ready to make a significant impact on the soccer field—the quartet hail from three states: Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

"These four bring diverse skills and experiences that will contribute to the continued success of our program that just reached the NCAA Tournament this season," Michigan Tech head soccer coach Turk Ozturk said.

"As we build on the momentum of a fantastic 2023 season, which saw us secure a top 3 finish in the GLIAC and make the NCAA tournament, these four talented players are key additions to our roster. We believe they will contribute significantly to our upward trajectory in the GLIAC, the Midwest, and the nation. Their bright futures in the black and gold uniform are a testament to their dedication and skill, and we can't wait to see them in action."

Coach Ozturk on Antczak: Megan brings exceptional vision and technical ability to the midfield, making her instrumental in exposing opposition defenses. Her presence aligns seamlessly with our commitment to building a technical and dynamic team that reflects our game model. Megan's contributions will play a vital role in our pursuit of excellence in the upcoming seasons.

Megan Antczak is a center-mid/outside-mid from Waukesha, Wisconsin, who scored four goals while adding eight assists for the Lasers in her junior season. She helped the Kettle Moraine High School team make it to the 2023 state finalists. Antczak has been on the Kettle Moraine team that has also qualified for states (2021) and sectional finalists (2022). She is a member of the Eco Club and FIRST Robotics. She plans on majoring in Materials Science and Engineering while at Tech.

Coach Ozturk on Gregory: Amelia is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the ball. Her strength and ball-winning abilities make her a valuable addition to our team. With versatility in playing multiple positions in the backline, Amelia adds a layer of flexibility to our strategies, enhancing our ability to attack and defend in the highly competitive GLIAC.

Amelia Gregory is a center-back/outside-back from Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, playing for Mounds View High School. She helped the Mustangs to a section championship (2021 & 2022) and a third-place finish at States (2022). Gregory earned All-State First Team in 2023 while being tabbed to the All-Tournament team (2022) along with Academic Excellence Award and All-Conference (2021 & 2022). She is also a student council member, National Honor Society, Mustang Mentors and HEART (Mental Health Awareness Club). Her major is undecided.

Coach Ozturk on Kowalczyk: A defender with exceptional technical ability and leadership qualities, Clare is poised to command our backline for years to come. Her presence on the field will contribute to the solid foundation that has been crucial to our success in the GLIAC. We are excited to see Clare's impact as she continues to develop within our program.

Clare Kowalczyk is a center-back/outside-back from Goodrich, Michigan, playing for Goodrich High School. Kowalczyk has been a captain for the last two seasons and tallied nine goals and 11 assists for the 2023 campaign. She has earned the Scholar-Athlete Award three times ('21, '22, '23) while also being named All-Conference three times ('21, '22, '23) and All-District ('21, '22, '23). She is also a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in Biomedical Engineering while at Tech.

Coach Ozturk on Vasoli: Bella is a standout playmaker and goal scorer, making her a valuable asset to our midfield. With a stellar career in high school and club soccer, we anticipate a smooth transition to the collegiate game. Bella's skills and strategic vision will undoubtedly elevate our team's performance as we aim for continued success in the GLIAC and beyond.
