HAMMOND, Ind. – Senior Neve Badalow and freshman Alyvia Sanom both netted their second goal of the season to uplift Michigan Tech past Purdue Northwest inside Dowling Park on Friday afternoon.

The Huskies are now 3-2 with a 1-0 ledger in GLIAC play, while the Pride falls to 0-3-2 and 0-1 in the conference.

"Every match is important and every match is a grind entering the conference portion of the season," head coach Bulut Ozturk said. "Purdue Northwest made us work for it today and kudos to them and their new coach. I'm very happy to get the win and now we're trying to mentally prepare for Parkside on Sunday."

Badalow kindled Michigan Tech's offense in the 30th minute, advancing down the right side and delivering a shot high and left to make it 1-0.

The Black & Gold continued to pace the game, outshooting Purdue Northwest 11-3, with eight goals reaching target to the Pride's one.

Similarly, the Huskies had an advantage in corner kicks (5-1), with Stephanie Yeager taking advantage of an opportunity in the second half putting Alyvia Sanom in position to head a ball past the goalkeeper in the 55th minute to make it 2-0.

Sanom's goal marks her second goal in three games.

The Pride's lone shot on goal found the back of the net, Kaci Pampreen's shot went low and to the left in the 61st minute, her second goal of the season.

The Huskies will head to Kenosha, Wisconsin, for a contest against Parkside on Sunday at 1 p.m. before returning to Copper Country.
