HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team concluded the regular season falling to No. 2 Grand Valley State 56-47 on Senior Day at the SDC Gymnasium.

Michigan Tech (15-11, 11-7 GLIAC) claims the fourth seed in the GLIAC Tournament, while Grand Valley State holds down the top seed, concluding the regular season on an 11-game win streak to move to 26-2 overall and 17-1 in the loop.

"I thought we competed really hard. We didn't shoot it great and I think if we hit a few more shots, it's a different game," head coach Sam Clayton said. "In general, after the first quarter offensively I felt like we got better looks but credit Grand Valley State they're a really good defensive team and they make it tough. We just gave up the ball too much in the first half. I thought we learned from it and took better care of the ball in the second half. I loved how we fought in the fourth quarter, they wanted it badly and we showed we can compete with one of the best teams in the nation."

The two teams struggled early offensively, with neither team shooting over 20% from the field in the first 10 minutes of action, although the Lakers held a slight edge at 8-5.

Maja Kozlowska gave Tech a spark in the second quarter with two baskets in the opening two minutes, followed by a 3-pointer from Lenz at the 7:07 mark to tie the game at 12-all. GVSU used an 8-2 run to give the Lakers some separation heading into halftime with a 22-17 lead.

The Huskies, who had 17 turnovers in the first half, took care of the ball much better in the second half, having just seven turnovers in the final 20 minutes. Lenz cut the Lakers' lead to three points at the 6:58 mark after going two-for-two from the charity stripe.

Grand Valley State outscored Michigan Tech 19-9 the rest of the quarter, going up by as much as 15 points following a 3-pointer from Abrie Cabana to make the score 38-23 at the 2:26 mark before heading into the final quarter of action ahead 43-0.

The Lakers lead swelled to as much as 18 points at the halfway point of the fourth quarter (52-34) despite the Huskies outscoring GVSU 16-14.

Isabella Lenz had seven points and two assists in the final ten minutes of action, cutting the Lakers lead to single-digits twice before foul shots gave GVSU a 57-46 nod to conclude the regular season.

Katelyn Meister converted an and-one at the 1:47 mark to put her four points away from becoming the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 points and the third player this season for the Huskies.

Isabella Lenz scored a team-leading 14 points, while Sara Dax posted 10 points and tied the team high of six rebounds. Maja Kozlowska also grabbed six rebounds to go with seven points.

Rylie Bisballe led the Lakers with 17 points and nine rebounds.
