HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team returns to the SDC Gymnasium Saturday for Alumni Day/Play4Kay Day against Northern Michigan at 1 p.m. The Huskies will take part in the GLIAC's Play4Kay initiative to help raise awareness and support for all cancers affecting women, MTU Athletics encourages fans to wear pink with a donation link available here.

About the Wildcats

Northern Michigan travels across US-41 with an overall record of 15-7 and 9-4 in the GLIAC. The Wildcats are on a three-game winning streak, most recently completing a weekend sweep over Parkside (71-60) Thursday and Purdue Northwest (73-62) on Saturday.

Makaylee Kuhn earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after posting back-to-back 25-point outings, with Thursday's statline being 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. She leads the conference at scoring 17.4 points while being fourth in the league with 7.1 rebounds.

NMU is ranked second in the country with 11.2 turnovers per game and has three players averaging two assists per one turnover in CJ Romero (2.26), Makaylee Kuhn (2.14) and Mackenzie Holzwart (1.97).

The Wildcats have the second-best 3-point field goal percentage at a clip of 33.4 percent, with Jacy Weisbrod being NMU's sharpshooter, making 57 3-pointers for the season, averaging 2.71 per game–both feats are atop the GLIAC statline.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech returns to the SDC after its first GLIAC weekend sweep to elevate to 12-9 overall and 8-5 in the loop. The Huskies bested Purdue Northwest 67-60 after trailing at halftime before nearly leading from wire-to-wire in Saturday's 74-68 win over Parkside.

Emma Anderson came up big for the Huskies off the bench in both games, posting back-to-back career-highs in scoring with 11 points on Thursday and 14 on Saturday. Averaging 18.5 minutes, the Menominee, Michigan, native shot over 50 percent from the field while going seven-for-10 from 3-point land to average 12.5 points, adding two rebounds and a block. 

Additionally, Katelyn Meister stepped up in Saturday's win, tying the team-high with 17 points after scoring just four points in Thursday's win. She went six-for-nine from the field while going three-for-four from beyond the arc.

The Huskies have continued to climb the ranks through the season and now rank first in free-throw percentage in the country at a clip of 80.4 percent. Isabella Lenz is MTU's best free-throw shooter, ranking 12th nationally and second in the league at 89 percent.

Lenz leads the Huskies with 13.0 points per game, while Alex Rondorf averages a team-leading seven rebounds an outing.

Michigan Tech bested Northern Michigan 71-58 at the Berry Events Center on Jan. 27.

The Huskies are 8-0 when scoring 70 points or more.
