HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech junior forward Emma Anderson scored a career-high 14 points off the bench to help the Huskies defeat Parkside 74-68 inside the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan Tech completed its first weekend sweep in GLIAC play and has won six of its last eight games to elevate to an overall record of 12-9 and 8-5 in the conference. Parkside falls to 12-9 and 7-6 in the loop.

"It was super important to come out with urgency and show we're a different team and we are," head women's basketball coach Sam Clayton said. "Emma played so well for us both offensively and defensively today and she shot it really well for us as well which was great to see."

"It's great when your bench can bring a spark—especially offensively but Emma and Alyssa also help us out defensively."

Michigan Tech started the first quarter shooting six-for-10 from 3-point range, with Alex Rondorf hitting the first two triples for MTU as Katelyn Meister hitting a 3-pointer on the next possession to jump out to a 9-3 edge in four minutes played.

Emma Anderson and Alyssa Wypych checked into the game to add to the Huskies offensive hot streak, with Anderson scoring eight of her career-high 14 points in the first quarter alone. Wypych also connected from beyond the arc to push the Huskies ahead of the Rangers 22-14 after the first quarter.

"This was really a test for us and we wanted it badly–To come out and win this game is huge and It gives us momentum going forward," Anderson mentioned. "It was huge for us to come out and get going right away and we kept that momentum most of the game."

The Rangers outscored the Huskies 16-13 in the second quarter and cut Tech's lead to 4 points twice but could not get closer.

Michigan Tech relied on buckets from Katelyn Meister and Isabella Lenz in the second 10 minutes of action, with Meister and Lenz combining for 11 points to sustain a five-point lead heading into halftime ahead 35-30.

Anderson hit two additional triples in the third quarter, with her second coming with 1:19 to play, giving MTU a 10-point lead at 53-43. Sara Dax hit two free-throws down the stretch. Although, the Rangers answered with a layup to conclude the third quarter trailing 55-45.

Michigan Tech continued to outpace the Rangers in the final quarter of regulation, regaining a double-digit lead at the 6:50 mark off a triple by Dani Nuest, making it 60-50.

Isabella Lenz would make it an 11-point game after the Rangers elected to foul with 1:45 to play.

Parkside outscored Tech 9-6 in the final 90 seconds, but Michigan Tech had enough cushion to complete the weekend sweep and pull off the season split against Parkside with a 74-68 win.

The Huskies had four players in double-figuring scoring, with Isabella Lenz and Katelyn Meister each contributing a team-leading 17 points. Emma Anderson (14) and Alex Rondorf (12) also finished with double-digit points while producing a team-leading nine rebounds.
