HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team takes to the road for the first two games of a five-game road stand, traveling to Parkside on Thursday (Jan. 18) and Purdue Northwest Saturday (Jan. 20).

About the Rangers

Parkside holds an overall record of 9-4 and 4-1 in league play. The Rangers are on a three-game win streak and hold a 3-1 record to start the new year. UWP, tabbed to finish sixth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, has two wins over ranked opponents this season, handling then No. 12 ranked Minnesota Duluth (77-49) in just their second game of the season and a win over then No. 5 Ferris State (79-70) on Dec. 9.

Parkside has the 11th-best field goal percentage in the nation, shooting at a clip of 46.4 percent. Sheridan Flauger is one of the Rangers top 3-point shooters with 31 3-pointers made this season, averaging 2.2 3-pointers per outing. Flauger also leads the team with 4.2 assists a game.

Paty Gallasova leads the Rangers offense with 12.7 points a game, joined by Flauger (11.8) in double-figure scoring. First-year Cassidy Arni earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following a career-high 22 points while shooting 8-for-11 from the field.

About the Pride

Purdue Northwest boasts an overall record of 7-8 with an in conference record of 2-3 and has turned the corner on their 8-21 record from a season ago. The Pride was tabbed to finish ninth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

PNW has two players in double-figures led by Shaw Dash (17) and Mercedes Simmons (15.3). The duo are more than just scorers for PNW, as Dash chips in a team-leading 3.1 assists per outing while Simmons is one of the nation's-best shot blockers with 40 blocks this season, averaging 2.67 blocks a game.

Simmons is also the Pride's top rebounder, with 9.1 rebounds a game and has posted six double-doubles this season, which ranks top in the league and 25th nationally.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech is 7-7 overall and 3-3 in GLIAC play, heading into its longest road stand of the season. The Huskies are 2-2 in the New Year, most recently splitting against No. 11 Ferris State (66-54) on Thursday before bouncing back with a feel-good win against Lake Superior State (75-58) on Saturday.

The Huskies have seen its veterans step up since returning from break, with Katelyn Meister being the leading scorer for the last three games. Along with her 19 points in the win against LSSU, Meister also garnered her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds. Alex Rondorf neared a double-double with a team-high 12 rebounds to go with eight points. Sara Dax and Alyssa Wypych also scored in double-figures, with 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Isabella Lenz is logging the most minutes in the conference, playing over 34 minutes per game while averaging a team-leading 11.8 points and 4.1 assists per game.

The Prescott, Wisconsin, native also ranks 16th nationally in free-throw percentage (88.7) with 47 free-throws made this season.
