HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team led for almost the entire game in a feel good win over Lake Superior State, 75-58, at the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan Tech elevates to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the loop, while Lake Superior State falls to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in GLIAC play.

"I was happy with how we responded after Thursday's loss, to be able to come back and have some urgency and do what we needed to do–I was happy," head women's basketball coach Sam Clayton said. "It's great to see our captains–our leaders stepping up, making big shots and also leading in other ways–Great for Kate and Sara and also Lydia came in and was efficient scoring and got some blocks, so I'm really happy with how her and also Alyssa came off the bench and lifted us."

Katelyn Meister was the lone scorer in double-figures through two quarters with 12-points to give Tech a 32-18 advantage. The Huskies shot 11-of-30 in the first half compared to the Lakers 6-of-25.

MTU held LSSU to just seven-points in the opening frame, with Sara Dax and Meister combining for 11 of the Huskies 15 points.

"Thursday was a tough loss but we bounced back tonight," Dax mentioned. "Coach drew up a good game plan for us and we executed throughout–we could've taken care of the ball a little bit better at the end but we got the win."

Michigan Tech poured on 43 points in the second half, with almost half of its points coming from the free throw line. The Huskies went 29-of-38 from the charity stripe, connecting on nine in the third quarter and 12 in the final quarter of regulation.

MTU's biggest lead came with 2:19 to play in the third quarter off a 3-pointer by Alyssa Wypych to make it 53-29. Isabella Lenz accounted for the assist, one of her six assists on the day.

Despite only making five shots in the final quarter, the Huskies still produced a quarter-high 22 points, with Brittney Mislivecek starting the quarter with a jump shot at the 9:36 mark.

The final 12 points for the Huskies came from the charity stripe spanning from the 2:50 mark to the final buzzer, showing the final score 75-58.
