About the Cardinals

William Jewell enters the 2023-24 season in the Kyley Bachand era, entering her first season at the helm of the Cardinals. Bachand sees eight players who appeared in at least 26 games a season ago, highlighted by GLVC All-Freshman Team honoree Emree Zars. The forward averaged 9.7 points and 6.3 rebounds a season ago, posting four double-doubles.

The Cardinals are youthful, with just two seniors on the 2023-24 roster in Libby Arnold and Katie Knock. Arnold played in all 30 games a season ago and averaged 10.2 points per game as a sophomore. Jewell welcome three newcomers this fall, all from Iowa, in Ellie Knock, Averi Porter, and Ella Bockenstedt.

The Cardinals were tabbed to finish 14th in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

About the Flyers

Lewis enters the season receiving votes in the WBCA Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll as Kiesha Newell returns for her second season at the head of the Flyers. In her first season at the Helm of the Flyers, Newell went 21-11 overall to finish second in the GLVC regular season, along with the conference tournament, before enjoying a trip to the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Additionally, Lewis returns players named to All-GLVC teams. Grace Hilber earned her second consecutive First Team All-GLVC honor, while Kathryn Schmidt earned her third All-GLVC Award and her first season, earning a First Team honor.

On Second Team All-GLVC were Jenna Badali, who also won GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2020-21, and Taylor Gugliuzza, who won the honor for the second consecutive season.

The Flyers were picked to win the GLVC in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning eight first-place votes.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech was picked to finish third in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Isabella Lenz was picked to be preseason All-GLIAC First Team.

The Huskies return 11 while adding four newcomers to the 2023-24 campaign. Last season, Tech went 14-0 at home, defeating two ranked teams in addition to an impressive 61-46 win against Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 26.

Head coach Sam Clayton enters her sixth season at the helm of the Huskies and is undefeated in season openers (5-0).

Tech returns veterans Sara Dax, Katelyn Meister and Alex Rondorf. The trio have played in over 80 games for the Black & Gold with over 50 starts apiece. Last season, Rondorf was named All-GLIAC Second Team and All-GLIAC Defensive team honoree.

Joining Rondorf on the All-Conference list is junior guard Isabella Lenz, who was named to the All-GLIAC First Team, along with being an All-GLIAC Defensive team member.

Lenz led the Huskies in minutes (31.1) and points (13.8) while scoring in double-figures in a team-high 26 games a season ago.
