Tech Nordic Unveils 2023-24 Schedule

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Nordic Ski coaches Tom & Kristen Monahan Smith have announced the 2023-24 Nordic ski schedule.

The highlight of the schedule is the Nordic Huskies playing host to the NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships at the Michigan Tech Trails on Feb. 24-25.

The event will also serve as Alumni weekend including an invitation to join the Huskies for the NCAA Regionals banquet and cheer on the Nordic Huskies in the races.

The Huskies open the season heading to Duluth, Minnesota, for the Duluth CXC Cup on Dec. 9-10 where Michigan Tech earned the combined team win a season ago.

The following weekend the Tech Nordic ski team competes in Cable, Wisconsin, at the Salomon CXC Cup on Dec. 16-17.

Michigan Tech opens the New Year with a trip out west to Midway, Utah, for the U.S. Cross Country Ski National Championships. The Huskies played host to the U.S. Nationals a season ago, seeing the Huskies post a combined team win with Skylar Patten taking bronze in the 10km skate and Anabel Needham qualifying for the U23 World Ski Championships.

After a weekend off MTU travels to Ishpeming, Michigan, for the NMU CCSA Invite on Jan. 20-21 before closing out the month with a trip to Brillion, Wisconsin for the UWGB CCSA Invite on Jan. 27-28.

Championship season begins for the Huskies in February starting with the CCSA Conference Championships, held in Duluth, Minnesota, on the 10th-11th. A season ago, the Nordic Men's Team won the Butch Reimer Cup over Northern Michigan by one point.

The Huskies then take to the Tech Trails playing host for the NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships where the team won the combined team title in 2023.

NCAA's will be hosted in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on Mar. 7-9 where the Huskies were the top CCSA team a season ago with Anabel Needham notching her second All-America accolade.

Following NCAA's, the Huskies have an opportunity to compete at the SuperTour Finals & Spring National Championships in Duluth, Minnesota, on Mar. 21-26.
