David Jankowski signs in ECHL with Wheeling Nailers

WHEELING, W.V. – Michigan Tech senior forward David Jankowski has signed a professional contract with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL. The Nailers are affiliated with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Jankowski played his fifth season of collegiate hockey for the Huskies in 2022-23, appearing in 28 games with four goals and five assists. He scored the game-winning goal against Lake Superior State (Nov. 12) and had a pair of assists at Northern Michigan (Dec. 2).

Jankowski played four seasons (2018-22) and 110 games for St. Lawrence before coming to Houghton. He tallied 53 points for the Skating Saints with 20 goals and 33 assists and was the team captain in 2021-22. Jankowski scored the overtime game-winner to give SLU the 2021 ECAC Tournament Championship. He was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team.

The Nailers are the oldest surviving minor league franchise below the AHL level, playing continuously since 1981. The Nailers play at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.
