HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team concludes its three-week five game road stand with tilts at Lake Superior State on Thursday and No. 20 Ferris State Saturday.

About the Lakers 

Lake Superior State is 13-6 overall and 5-4 in GLIAC play. The Lakers are coming off a weekend split, falling to Saginaw Valley (87-74) on Thursday before squeaking away with a win at Wayne State (64-62) on Saturday. For January, the Lakers are 5-3.

LSSU has found success with one of the best defenses in the country, along with being one of the best shooting teams from beyond the arc. The Lakers hold opponents to just 65.8 points per game, ranking 15th nationally and first in the league. Offensively, Lake Superior State is shooting 40.8 percent from 3-point range, which ranks sixth in the country and first in the GLIAC.

Tyson Edmondson is shooting 41.1 percent from deep while averaging over 2.5 3-pointers per outing as part of his 13.2 points per game. Kingsley Perkins leads the way offensively with 13.7 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds. 

Xander Okerlund (11.2) and Devin Womack (10.5) also are averaging over double-figure scoring.

About the Bulldogs

Ferris State is 16-4 overall and 6-3 in the GLIAC. The No. 20 Bulldogs recently posted a weekend split, besting Wayne State (79-75) on Thursday before falling to Saginaw Valley (99-89) on Saturday. The loss on Saturday snapped a three-game win streak.

The Bulldogs score at will, posting 87.9 points per game with one of the deepest teams in the country, seeing 40.75 bench points an outing, which ranks fourth in the country.

Additionally, FSU shoots the ball incredibly well at 50.6 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from beyond 3-point land. Both feats rank top-10 nationally. 

Amari Lee is the floor general for the Bulldogs off the bench, averaging 4.2 assists in over 21 minutes an outing. 

Ethan Erickson leads four Bulldogs in double-figure scoring with a team-high 14.3 points per game while being one of the best 3-point shooters in the country. He averages over 3.5 3-pointers per game at a clip of 49.3 percent–both rank top five nationally. 

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech enters the week with an overall record of 6-12 and 3-6 in league play. Most recently, the Huskies fell to a red-hot Northern Michigan team that received national recognition as the No. 19 ranked team in the D2CSC Top-25 poll. 

Dawson Nordgaard continues to make strides in his first year, being in the starting lineup, shooting 7-for-9 from the field for 14 points while chipping in a team-leading six rebounds and three assists. He has scored in double-figures three of the last four games and six times this season while also seeing his career-high 19-point outing on Dec. 9 against Wayne State.

The Huskies saw four starters end in double-figure scoring in Saturday's loss, as sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek remains one of the best scorers in the country, leading the way for the Black & Gold with 18 points. 

Tomashek leads the team with 22.3 points per outing, which ranks top of the GLIAC and 10th in the country. Pete Calcaterra ranks third in the GLIAC with his team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
