HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team completes its first meeting against all GLIAC foes with a trip to Northern Michigan slated for a 3 p.m. tipoff inside the Berry Events Center Saturday.

FoxUP will be on the air for both games with Dave Ellis on television play-by-play.

About the Wildcats

Northern Michigan holds an overall record of 15-5 while playing to an 8-0 record in league play to reside at the top of the conference standings. The Wildcats are on an 11-game winning streak. However, their last six wins were decided by four points or less. NMU is ranked No. 19 in the D2CSC Top 25.

The Wildcats have an incredibly balanced attack, seeing its starting five all scoring in double-figures, with Dylan Kuehl (16.6) and Max Weisbroad (15.4) each averaging over 15 points per outing while being the lone players on the team to score over 300 points this season.

Sam Schultz averages a double-double as one of the best rebounders in the country, with 10.2 rebounds per outing while adding 10.5 points. He ranks 16th in the country and atop the GLIAC with seven double-doubles this season.

About the Huskies 

Michigan Tech enters the week with an overall standing of 6-11 and a GLIAC ledger of 3-5. Most recently, the Huskies enjoyed a 78-71 win at Parkside on Thursday night, highlighted by a 32-point outing from sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek, who continues to be one of the country's top scorers. The road trip concluded with a physical bout the Huskies couldn't overcome, falling to Purdue Northwest (79-70) on Saturday.

Tomashek, scoring 30 or more points in four games this season, averages a GLIAC-leading 22.5 points per game, ranking ninth in the country. He also ranks 14th nationally with a conference-leading 98 free throws made, averaging 6.7 free-throw attempts per game. As a team, MTU gets to the charity stripe 18.8 times per outing, ranking third in the league.

Dan Gherezgher has continued to elevate his game with a season-high 22 points in Saturday's loss. He's started the last five games and is averaging 13.3 points per game as the second-best scorer, adding 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Pete Calcaterra has quietly become the league's second-best rebounder, averaging 7.3 rebounds per outing while chipping in 7.2 points.

One Last Thing

Michigan Tech's last win at the Berry Events Center came on Jan. 31, 2022, with Adam Hobson tying the team-high with 13 points as a starter.
