About the Panthers

Kentucky Wesleyan is on a six-game win streak following a loss to then-ranked No. 5 Indianapolis, back on Nov. 11 to conclude the G-MAC/GLIAC/GLVC Crossover. The Panthers most recently rattled off three conference wins for a record of 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the G-MAC.

Two of the three victories were by one possession, with a win against Findlay (81-78) on Nov. 30 and the most recent win over Lake Erie on Monday (76-74).

KWC also boasts an impressive exhibition win over Louisville (71-68) back on Oct. 30.

The Panthers are disciplined with only 12.6 fouls per game, which ranks third nationally. They also showcase one of the top defenses in the country, holding opponents to 62 points per outing, which is seventh-best nationally, while holding the opposition to just 29.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Kennedy Miles is the heart of the Panthers, averaging 2.25 steals per game and a team-leading 40 defensive rebounds and 38 assists this season.

Logan McIntire averages 15.3 points per outing to lead the team; he produced a season-high 26 points against Walsh, the defending GMAC champions. Borja Fernandez joins McIntire in double-figure scoring, posting 11.9 points and pairs with Alex Gray to lead the team with 6.1 rebounds per outing.

Kentucky Wesleyan will have played one more game before arriving to the U.P., hosting East-West University on Thursday.

About the Warriors

Winona State is a one-loss team on a three-game win streak for an overall record of 7-1 and 3-0 in the NSIC. WSU made its way into the top-25–coming in at 24 for the first time this season. Most recently, the Warriors survived in overtime at Wayne State (90-83) on Friday before traveling to Sioux Falls for a 62-58 win over Augustana on Saturday.

WSU played a familiar opponent to Michigan Tech, beating Missouri-St. Louis 74-67 back on Nov. 16.

Connor Dillon leads the Warriors in every offensive category, highlighted by 24.8 points per outing, which ranks seventh nationally. He is also sixth nationally in field goal attempts (157) and 11th in field goals (75). He earned NSIC Shining Five accolades following a career-high 40 points in the win against Wayne State, going 9-of-14 from beyond the arc.

Connor Drew joins Dillon in double-figure scoring, averaging 13.8 points and 4.6 rebounds. Declan Dillon averages a team-leading 4.9 rebounds per game while chipping in 8 points.

The Warriors are sound with the ball, averaging under 10 turnovers a game, which ranks 13th nationally. They also hold opponents to 66.1 points per game while producing 72.1 points per outing.

Winona State will play two more conference games before meeting Michigan Tech, facing No. 3 nationally-ranked Minnesota State Thursday and a familiar foe in No. 21 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech opened GLIAC play last week with a loss to Saginaw Valley (78-77) on Thursday before handling Wayne State (84-77) on Saturday to move to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the loop.

The Huskies trailed Wayne State 48-39 heading into half before erupting in the second half, scoring 45 points while holding the Warriors to 29 points. In the win, Dawson Nordgaard scored a career-high 19 points, 11 of which came in the second half. He also had three offensive rebounds in the second half and sent two Warriors players to the bench after drawing their fifth foul of the game.

Marcus Tomashek earned his second GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolade following a career-high 39-point game on Thursday (Dec. 7) and a 20-point game on Saturday (Dec. 9). He averaged 29.9 points to open GLIAC play, going 12-of-22 from the field and 8-of-11 from 3-point range. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native also went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and chipped in 5.5 rebounds.

Tomashek is ranked second in the country with 25.8 points per outing and ranks 15th nationally with 206 points through eight games. He also is averaging 3.62 3-pointers per game, which ranks sixth nationally.

Saturday's win was the most complete game the Huskies have played this season, with Adam Hobson tying his season-high with 16 points while Pete Calcaterra neared a double-double with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Michigan Tech also got to the free-throw line 30 times in Saturday's win, going 25-of-30, with Nate Abel going 5-of-5 in the final minutes of the game. As a team, MTU is ranked top-25 in free-throw percentage (77.5), which also sits atop the GLIAC.

One Last Thing

Perhaps overlooked in the loss on Thursday, Josh Terrian produced a season-high 10 points, going 2-of-3 from beyond the arc while chipping in four rebounds and two assists.
