HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team heads to Minnesota to face St. Cloud State for a battle of the Huskies on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 7 p.m.

About the Huskies (St. Cloud State)

St. Cloud State welcomes Michigan Tech with a 2-1 record to start the season, most recently falling to Minnesota State (78-61) on Saturday (Nov. 18). 

The Mavericks shot 61.7 percent from the field, while the Huskies shot 39.7 percent in the home opening loss on Saturday. Luke Taylor and Wyatt Hawks both scored 10 points to lead the team.

For the season, SCSU is averaging 71.7 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting. They have a rebound margin of 8.4 over opponents this season for an average of 38.7 per game.

Morgan Lucas has scored the season-high for the team with 25 points in the season-opening win against Pittsburg State (Nov. 10). 

The Huskies were tabbed to finish 14th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with Quincy Henderson in his second season at the helm of St. Cloud State.

About the Huskies (Michigan Tech)

Michigan Tech heads to St. Cloud State between home games. Last Saturday (Nov. 18), the Huskies won their home opener against UMSL 83-75, seeing sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek score a career-high 33 points.

As a team, MTU shot an incredible 53.1 percent from the field, backed by 14-for-27 from long range (51.9 percent). Additionally, the Huskies reserves scored 23 points as Tyler Robarge scored in double-figures for the first time this season (13 points). Nate Abel also chipped in 8 points, going 2-for-2 on 3-pointers.

Tomashek shot 57.1 percent from the field on 8-for-14 while also making six 3-pointers. 22 of his 33 points came in the second half, which helped the Huskies fend off the Tritons' comeback hopes.

Through three games, the Green Bay, Wisconsin, native is averaging 27 points per game, which ranks fourth nationally and best in the GLIAC.

Tomashek earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for his incredible game on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Dan Gherezgher made his season debut, going 3-for-5 on 3-pointers, finishing with 11 points and two assists.

Josh Terrian is averaging four assists per game to lead the team. He holds one of the best assistant-to-turnover ratios (6) in the nation, ranking 12th in the early stages of the season.

Pete Calcaterra leads the Huskies in rebounds with 6.7 per game.

One Last Thing

The Huskies have three players averaging double-digit scoring Tomashek (27), Adam Hobson (12) and Gherezgher (11).
