HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football team takes a trip downstate for a matchup against Wayne State in Detroit, Michigan, at Tom Adams Field, slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

The Series
Wayne State leads 19-14 in the all-time series. However, the Huskies have won three of the last five meetings.
About the Warriors
Wayne State welcomes Michigan Tech following a three-game skid, most recently falling to NAIA affiliate Concordia 24-23 after allowing 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Of note, this will be the first league matchup for the Warriors this season, with an overall record of 1-4 this year.
WSU has found success running the ball this season, with D'Marco Singleton and Jayden Waddell averaging over 40 yards per game with over 200 yards rushing apiece this season.
Additionally, Wayne State has seen two quarterbacks with vital playing time in all five games this season in Eli McLean and Waddell. McLean has thrown for two touchdowns and averages 57.8 passing yards per game.
The Warriors have two players averaging over 20 yards per kickoff return in Manny Harris (22.6) and Kendall Williams (20.8), who rank second and fifth in the conference, respectively.
Gamon Howard leads the Warriors with 28 tackles this season with 22 solo tackles and four tackles for loss.
Tyrone Wheatley is in his first season at the helm of the Warriors. In the preseason coaches' poll Wayne State was tabbed to finish sixth in the league.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech heads downstate with a record of 3-1 overall and 0-1 within the league. The Huskies most recently had a 28-0 setback against No. 18 nationally-ranked Davenport on Saturday (Sep. 30).
Quarterback Alex Fries is averaging 205 yards of total offense per game with 753 yards passing and 67 yards rushing. Running back William Marano is averaging 65 yards per game, rushing for 260 yards this season.
Wide receiver Ethan Champney leads the league with 390 yards receiving this season, averaging 97.5 receiving yards per game.
Marc Sippel and Hunter Buechel continue to lead the Huskies defensively. Sippel has 44 tackles, 17 of which are solo and one sack for 11 yards, while Buechel has 36 tackles, 28 are solo with a sack for 11 yards.
On special teams, Darius Willis averages 21 yards per game on kick returns with a long of 25 yards.
Punter Brendan Lach remains at the top of Division II, averaging 47.6 yards per punt.
One Last Thing
Buechel and Sippel have been relentless on defense all season, showing the duo among the nation's-best. Buechel, hailing from Lake Mills, Wisconsin, is fourth in the nation, averaging 6.5 solo tackles per game. While Sippel, a native of Wausau, Wisconsin, is fifth nationally with 11 total tackles per game.
