Roger E. Laub
Inducted October 17, 1987

During his 23 years in Houghton, Michigan, Roger E. Laub ('31) missed only a total of three hockey games. He was the hockey program's first "honorary coach," a position he took seriously until his death in 1986.

After earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry, Laub spent his career with U.S. Steel. During his years in northern Indiana, he was an active member of the Michigan Tech Alumni Association and spent time helping the University recruit students in the area.

Laub started his second career at Michigan Tech after retiring from U.S. Steel in 1963. He became an avid hockey supporter and a long-time member of the Huskies Club.

Laub's real interest however, was helping athletes develop to their fullest potential on and off the ice. He spent a great deal of time with individual hockey players, encouraging and counseling them during their undergraduate days.
