Rene' E. Adams
The first sports information director ever at Michigan Tech, Rene' E. Adams has continued his longtime support of the University since leaving in 1964. He began his career as equipment manager at MTU in January 1948 before taking over the post as sports informatioin director in June of 1953. He held the position for 11 years before moving to the state of Texas where he worked until his recent retirement. A 1947 graduate of MTU, Adams lettered in football in both 1946 and 1947 and was a two-year member of the Varsity Club as well. He continued his support through donations to The Huskies Club, the Campaign for Sherman Field, the John MacInnes Scholarship Fund, and The Huskies Club Ambassador Program. He also chaired the Class of 1950 Homecoming Reunion in 1990 and is the current president of Dallas/Fort Worth MTU Alumni Chapter. Adams was a resident of Houghton, Mich. and passed away on December 20, 2008. |
