Michigan Tech men's cross country finished seventh while women's cross country came in 13th amongst a 24-team field at the Lewis Crossover race Saturday morning at Lewis Cross Country Course.

Michigan Tech men's and women's cross country is in competition for the third straight week Saturday for the Lewis Cross Country Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois. The race will feature 28 teams attending from 16 states with eight nationally ranked or receiving votes on the men's side and 11 teams on the women's side. The meet begins with a women's 6K at 10:45 a.m., followed by a men's 8K at 11:30 a.m. EST. The Huskies are expected to bring a full slate of student-athletes, including Roy Griak Invitational winner Clayon Sayen (junior, Houghton, Michigan).

Michigan Tech men's cross country placed eighth and women's cross country finished 10th at the Blugold Invitational Friday evening, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Whitetail Golf Course. The Huskies featured a smaller group of student-athletes after competing at the Roy Griak Invitational less than one week ago but still placed in the top ten teams in the race.

Michigan Tech junior Clayton Sayen has been named GLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the week the conference office announced on Tuesday (Sept. 28). Sayen (Houghton, Michigan) led Michigan Tech cross country with a first-place individual finish at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday afternoon at Les Bolstad Golf Course. Sayen turned in a winning time of 25:17.7 in the Joe Rider Men's Maroon 8K race, edging Wayne State's Ransom Allen (25:22.5) and Zac Truman (25:41.3) for the top spot on the podium. It was the first victory of the season for Sayen, who trimmed his time by 40 seconds since the Huskies last ran the same event in the fall of 2019.

Junior Clayton Sayen (Houghton, Michigan) led Michigan Tech cross country with a first-place individual finish at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday afternoon at Les Bolstad Golf Course. Sayen turned in a winning time of 25:17.7 in the Joe Rider Men's Maroon 8K race, edging Wayne State's Ransom Allen (25:22.5) and Zac Truman (25:41.3) for the top spot on the podium. The Husky men took fourth place as a team in a field of 27 schools at 138 points. Tech women's cross country placed ninth with 237 points in the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon 6K against 26 opponents.

Michigan Tech men's cross country stayed at No. 27 while women's cross country was ranked No. 28 (down two positions) in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCAAA) National Rankings Poll. The Huskies remained at No. 5 and No. 8 in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region polls respectively.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its cross country Pre-season Coaches Poll Thursday. Michigan Tech men’s cross country claimed the third spot with 61 points, behind Grand Valley State (81 points) and Saginaw Valley State (73 points). Husky women’s cross country took fourth in the poll, tied with Northern Michigan at 68 points. No. 1 nationally ranked Grand Valley State seized the top position.

Michigan Tech men’s cross country took first place in a field of 10 teams and women’s cross country came in second at the Wayne State Warrior Invitational. The men ran 8,000 meters at Willow Metropark while the women ran a 6,000 distance.

Nearly two full years have passed since their last counting competition, but the Michigan Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to appear in the Wayne State Warrior Challenge Friday, September 10 at 6:15 p.m. EST. The races commence at Willow Metropark, with the women completing 6,000 meters and the men 8,000 meters.
