Men's Cross Country Ranks 10th, Women 22nd in Latest USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its weekly national and regional polls. The men's team ranks third regionally and 10th nationally, and the women's team checks in at No. 6 in the Midwest and No. 22 in the country.

After a fifth-place performance at the Roy Griak Invitational this past weekend, the Huskies women's team moved back into the top 25 as they ranked 22nd with 25 points after receiving votes in the previous two polls. The 25 points received puts Tech ahead of Cal State Stanislaus and behind Cal Poly Pomona. The Huskies' standing in the region also improved in the latest poll, moving up three spots to rank sixth this week.

Despite a finish of second at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, the Michigan Tech men's team dropped one spot to 10th with 129 points to rank ahead of Lee (Tenn.) and behind Charleston (W. Va.). In the Midwest Region, the Huskies kept their No. 3 spot as they head into the midpoint of the season.

Grand Valley State remains the top team in the men's and women's Midwest Region standings, while Colorado School of Mines and Adams State maintain the No. 1 spots in the national men's and women's polls, respectively.

The Huskies will run again on Friday (Oct. 4) at the Blugold Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The men's team will run first at 4:15 p.m., followed by the women's team competing at 5:15 p.m. For the complete region and national rankings, click the links at the top of the page.
