Byrd named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Michigan Tech runner Emily Byrd has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team. Byrd is a senior from Perrysburg, Ohio, and held a 3.82 grade-point average in environmental engineering. She now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

Michigan Tech cross country runner Amanda Kautzer has received the GLIAC Pat Riepma Postgraduate Scholarship. The honor awards each recipient $5,000 in aid to the graduate school of their choice. Selections were made by the Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) of the GLIAC member institutions.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2019 Division II All-Academic Teams, and the Michigan Tech cross country team both earned spots on the men’s and women’s lists. In addition, 11 individual Michigan Tech student-athletes received All-Academic honors.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named Michigan Tech head coach Jake Isaacson the Midwest Region Men’s Coach of the Year. It’s the second time Isaacson has received a Midwest Region Coach of the Year award from the USTFCCCA, after being named the Women’s Coach of the Year in 2018.

For the first time in Michigan Tech cross country history, the men’s and women’s teams have qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships. With second-place team finishes at the 2019 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships, the men’s and women’s teams will both be headed to the National Championships in Sacramento, California.

After two weeks of preparation and training, the Michigan Tech cross country team is heading for Evansville, Indiana for the 2019 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship on Saturday (Nov. 9). The race, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana, will be held at Angel Mounds Golf Course, with the women running the 6K race at 10:30 a.m. CST, followed by the men’s 10K race at 11:45 a.m. CST.
