Michigan Tech Cross Country Receives USTFCCCA Academic Honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the members of the 2018 NCAA Division II All-Academic Team. Ten members of the Michigan Tech cross country team were named to the men’s and women’s rosters. In addition, the men’s and women’s cross country teams received All-Academic honors, with the men’s team earning a combined GPA of 3.41, while the women finished the season with a 3.61 GPA.

Reichl and Byrd Earn All-America Honors, Women Take 7th at National Championships

It was a historic day for the Michigan Tech cross country program as Braden Reichl became the first All-American in the men’s program and Emily Byrd became only the second All-American in women’s program history at the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships. The women’s team finished seventh out 34 teams at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Jake Isaacson Named USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women's Coach of the Year

Michigan Tech cross country head coach Jake Isaacson has been named the Midwest Region Women’s Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). It’s the first time a Michigan Tech head coach has won the award in the history of the program.

With two runners placing inside the Top 20, the Michigan Tech women’s cross country team placed third in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships to earn themselves a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Additionally, the Black and Gold men’s team placed seventh with one runner inside the Top 20.
