Michigan Tech Volleyball Announces Middle School Development League

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Recreation and the Michigan Tech volleyball team have announced the creation of the MTU Middle School Volleyball Development League from January 13 until February 5. Registration is open and will remain open until January 6.

A four-week developmental program, the MTU Middle School Volleyball Development League is for girls in grades 7 & 8 to learn and improve their skills in preparation for the upcoming interscholastic season. The goal of this league is to maximize exposure to the sport by providing high-quality training and guaranteed playing time. Athletes will develop basic to intermediate volleyball skills, strategy, and rules of volleyball necessary to prepare them for future competitive teams.

Regardless of school affiliation, all athletes will participate in a tryout and will be selected to teams coached by Michigan Tech volleyball players and staff. Each week will consist of one mid-week team practice and a scrimmage Friday night. Playing time is shared and each athlete will have the opportunity to learn multiple volleyball positions.
