Huskies post shutout over Davenport 4-0

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Michigan Tech stayed undefeated at home and swept doubles in a 4-0 win over Davenport in women's tennis Friday at Gates Tennis Center.

The Huskies improved to 2-8, 2-4 GLIAC with the victory while Davenport fell to 8-16, 1-5. Tech plays again Saturday in Houghton at 10 a.m. against Purdue Northwest.

"I felt the women's team really took the energy from the men's match this morning and applied to this afternoon," said head coach Kristin Yep. "We played very well to clinch it 4-0 and I was proud of how our team performed at home."

Leading 1-0 after doubles, Dominika Bobik defeated Isabella Carofano 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for Tech. Neva Manas followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Vladislava Shumilova and Lauren Opalewski handled Louise Hosking 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 to seal it for MTU. 

The Huskies have two regular season conference matches remaining before the GLIAC Tournament.
