HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Michigan Tech women's tennis team fell to the University of Tampa 5-2 Thursday in match four of the Spring Tennis Fest Tournament held in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Huskies dropped to 10-7 overall for the 2019-20 season.

"I think today was tough for both teams," Michigan Tech Head Coach Kristin Yep said. "Focusing is becoming increasingly difficult with all the unprecedented things happening with the Coronavirus. Hopefully we will have one more match tomorrow to close out the trip."

Tampa (7-4) took all three doubles matches in Thursday's contest. Both of Michigan Tech's points were recorded in singles competition. Ivona Gorgioski and Jessica Brown competed in No. 1 doubles, falling to Ekaterina Grib and Savannah Williams 6-2. Lauren Opalewski and Dominika Bobik lost to Corbin Dorsey and Tatiana Harrelson in the No. 2 spot 6-2 while Neva Manas and Mirna Golac came up just short to Lilley Nice and Cheyanne Brooks in No. 3 doubles 6-2.

Brown logged one of the two points for the Huskies in the No. 3 singles position, defeating Nice 6-1, 6-1. Bobik then held off Williams in No. 2 singles to lock down a 6-3, 6-2 victory for the second point. Manas took Vanina Iordanova to three sets in No. 5 singles, but fell 6-3, 1-6, 1-6 after getting the early lead. Dorsey topped Opalewski 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 spot, Golac lost to Nicoline Palmgren 6-1, 6-1 in No. 6 singles and Gorgioski fell short in No.1 singles 6-1, 6-2.
