Tennis Wins at Hillsdale Friday

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's tennis team defeated Hillsdale 6-3 on Friday (Oct. 7) afternoon at the Mary Jane Delp Courts. The Huskies won four singles and two doubles matches to move to 4-3 on the season.

"Today was a big win for us," Tech coach Kevin Kalinec said. "It was the best singles play by us all year. The team is getting tougher late in the season, and I'm happy with the way we responded after last weekend."

Kwang Suthijindawong (6-3, 6-2), Sandra Cvetanovic (6-4, 1-6, 6-2), Vicky Quinde (6-3, 6-2), and Anabella Neri (6-2, 6-2) all won their singles matches.

Sandra Cvetanovic and Kwang Suthijindawong teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Paola Quintana and Allenca Rolim took home a 9-7 win in No. 2 doubles.

The Huskies finish up the weekend at Wayne State on Saturday (Oct. 8).

"We'll have to play at the top of our game tomorrow," added Kalinec. "Wayne is a good team, but we can beat them if we play better than we did today, especially in doubles."
