Tech Soccer Picked Fifth in the GLIAC

BAY CITY, Mich. – Michigan Tech was picked fifth in the 2016 GLIAC Preseason Soccer Coaches' Poll, which was released on Thursday (Aug. 11). Three-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion Grand Valley State topped the poll.

Ashland received one first-place vote in second. Ashland, Ferris State, and Ohio Dominican also ranked ahead of the Huskies. Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley State, Walsh, Northwood, Lake Erie, Findlay, and Tiffin were in the bottom six slots.

Michigan Tech begins it seventh season in 2016—all under head coach Michelle Jacob. The Huskies finished 2015 with a 9-6-2 record and the program's fourth straight postseason appearance.

The Huskies open the season with four opponents from the NSIC before beginning GLIAC play. After having only five home games last year, the Black and Gold host nine games at Sherman Field in 2016, beginning with Winona State (Sept. 2) and St. Cloud State (Sept. 4).

Previews and videos on each of the league's 15 teams are available on the GLIAC Soccer Website.
