Women’s Basketball Announces 2021-22 Schedule
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech women's basketball announced its 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday (June 8). The Huskies will play 28 games this winter with 18 conference matchups and 12 at SDC Gymnasium on campus.
Tech begins with a pair of home scrimmages and welcomes Alma College October 30, followed by University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh November 4. The Huskies see non-conference opponents Lewis and William Jewell in the NMU Invitational November 13-14, followed by the regular season home opener November 19 against Minnesota Crookston at 5:30 p.m. The following day, Minnesota Duluth comes to town for an afternoon matinee at 3:00 p.m.
Michigan Tech plays Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State in the Northern State Tournament November 26-27, then travels to Northwood December 3 to kick off the GLIAC schedule.
The Huskies host conference foes Northern Michigan (December 6), Lake Superior State (December 9), and Ferris State (December 11), then finish the month at non-conference Drury (Dec. 18) and Lindenwood (December 19). Drury fell to No. 1 Lubbock Christian in the NCAA Division II National Championship game in March.
After a break in late December, Tech returns to Houghton play Wisconsin Parkside (January 6) and Purdue Northwest (January 8), followed by trips to Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State the next week. Michigan Tech's longest road swing extends from January 31 to February 12, with matchups against Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, Wisconsin Parkside, Davenport, and Grand Valley State.
Senior Day is February 19 against Wayne State and the team closes out the regular season with a pair of away contests at Ferris State (February 24) and Lake Superior State (February 26). Fans can watch all home games this season with live statistics via MTU's Stretch Internet Portal livestream.
The GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals begin March 1. The Huskies return three starters from last year's squad, which finished 20-2 overall. MTU also won the GLIAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the Midwest Region Semifinals in Springfield, Missouri. Tech was ranked as high as No. 6 in the country with four All-GLIAC selections, coach of the year Sam Clayton, and GLIAC player of the year Ellie Mackay.
