Ellie Mackay Earns All-America Honorable Mention

Michigan Tech junior guard Ellie Mackay was named NCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention by the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association (WBCA). The teams are selected and voted on by WBCA member coaches of NCAA Division II.
Women’s Basketball Golf Scramble set for June 5th

The Michigan tech women’s basketball team will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 5th at Portage Lake Golf Course. Registration for the tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. This year’s event is sponsored by Ted Simonsen and Ameriprise Financial.

Huskies season ends in NCAA Regional Semifinals

Michigan Tech women's basketball saw its historic 18 game win streak end abruptly Saturday with a 74-65 loss to Ashland in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region semifinals at O'Reilly Family Event Center. Annie Roshak poured in 26 points and Karlee Pireu scored 20 with 12 rebounds for a double-double. The No. 5 seeded Eagles played a strong second quarter to create separation in the game, using a 13-0 run to lead 37-26 by halftime. The Huskies failed to make up the difference and ran into foul trouble late, despite outpacing Ashland 27-21 on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. The Eagles were strong on the boards with 45 rebounds compared to 25 for Tech. Ashland advanced the Midwest Regional final and plays the winner of Drury and Truman for a chance to go to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio.

After dominating the GLIAC Championship tournament last week, No. 6 ranked Michigan Tech (20-1) earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region tournament and awaits the winner of Ashland (14-8) and Grand Valley State (14-5) in the semifinals Saturday, March 13 at 6 p.m. The team arrived in Springfield, Missouri Wednesday afternoon and will practice at Drury University in the days leading up to the game.

Huskies No. 6 in final WBCA National Rankings Poll

The Michigan Tech women's basketball team is ranked No. 6 in this week's WBCA National Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Huskies (20-1) won their eighth GLIAC tournament title Sunday over Ashland 74-63 and have tied the program record with 18 consecutive victories. Tech was selected as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region tournament and will play the winner either Ashland or Grand Valley State in the semifinals Saturday, Marc 13 at 7 p.m. The Huskies have made a steady rise in the rankings this season. Lubbock Christian remained No. 1 in the nation at 16-0. Drury (20-1), North Georgia (17-1), Hawaii Pacific (13-0), and Lander (17-1) rounded out the top-five.

Michigan Tech women’s basketball pulled away from Ashland to win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship for the eighth time in program history 74-63 Sunday at Dworkin Center Sunday afternoon. The Huskies (20-1) tied the program record for consecutive victories and extended their streak to 18 in a row against the Eagles. Tech also snapped Ashland’s streak of 19 straight conference tournament wins.

The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional. The Huskies will open the tournament with a bye to the semifinal and await the winner of the No. 4/5 matchup between Grand Valley State and Ashland.
Four Huskies and Coach Hoyt recognized for All-GLIAC awards

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its awards for All-GLIAC as well as special awards Saturday morning. Michigan Tech’s Ellie Mackay was named GLIAC player of the year as well as All-GLIAC first team. Jordan Ludescher and Cassidy Trotter were named All-GLIAC second team. Trotter and McGirk were tabbed GLIAC All-Defensive Team members. Head Coach Sam Hoyt garnered GLIAC Coach of the Year after leading the Huskies to the regular season conference title and a 17-1 record. Michigan Tech currently ranks No. 9 in the country for NCAA Division II.

Ellie Mackay and Jordan Ludescher scored 15 points apiece and No. 1 seed Michigan Tech defeated No. 8 seed Davenport University 79-52 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal Thursday afternoon at Dworkin Center. The Huskies assembled a 10-2 run to start the game and played a strong third quarter to extend a five-point halftime lead to win comfortably. Sara Dax played well off the bench and finished with 12 points.
