Michigan Tech's Clayton Sayen has been named a recipients of the 2022 Spring GLIAC Commissioner's Award the conference office announced on Friday. The awards are presented after the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and in competition.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Michigan Tech junior Clayton Sayen (Houghton, Michigan) is among its 2022 NCAA Division II All-Region honorees Wednesday. Sayen earned top marks in the 800 meters and 1500 meter events this spring and qualified for the 1500 national finals, where he finished 11th.

All-America honors for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and Michigan Tech junior Clayton Sayen was named to the second team in the men's 1,500 meters.

The most prolific Michigan Tech 1500 meter runner in school history Clayton Sayen crossed the finish line 11th Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium with a 1500 meter time of 3:51.64.

Select Michigan Tech student-athletes participated in the Carius Gregory Invitational at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, hosted by North Central College Friday. Junior Clayton Sayen (Houghton, Michigan) topped another school record, this time in the 800 meters. Having already locked up a qualifier spot to the NCAA Division II Championships in the 1500 meters, Sayen showed his versatility with the new provisional mark.

With one day of competition remaining at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Huskies posted several notable results on Thursday in Allendale, Michigan, including a 3000 meter steeplechase school record set by junior Sam Kurkowski. Field events are set to resume Friday at 11 a.m. while track gets underway at 2:30 p.m.

Clayton Sayen’s closing speed helped him top the Michigan Tech 1500 meter school record for the second time this spring Thursday night at the Drake Relays. Sayen (Houghton, Michigan) finished in second place amongst a field of 27 with a time of 3:44.33, bested only by Alec Basten of the University of Minnesota (3:43.64).

Jesse Jacobusse remained undefeated this season in the 800 meters and a plethora of Husky runners surpassed personal bests at the two day, Elaine Leigh Invitational, hosted by Oakland Unversity. Jacobusse crossed the line in 2:11.61, which set an NCAA provisional mark. She edged out Madison Leigh (Oakland - 2:12.46) for first place.

Michigan Tech dominated middle distance and set a pair of personal bests in shotput despite a challenging sustained breeze all afternoon at the St. Norbert Twilight Invitational Thursday. Noah Koball (14.23m) and Ryan Beatley (13.18m) took first and second place for MTU. In the men's 1500 meters, the Huskies slotted in each of the top six positions, including race winner Sam Lange (4:01.97).
