Liz Bloch Named GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech track & field student-athlete Liz Bloch was named the GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking performance at the Bison Outdoor Classic.

A senior from St. Clair Shores, Mich., Bloch broke school record in the 1500m when clocked a 4:24.67 in a 10th-place finish. Bloch broke her own record time of 4:27.93 from the Dr. Keeler Track & Field Invitational in 2018.

An NCAA All-Region and First Team All-GLIAC runner during the cross country season, Bloch also hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard for her performance. Her time puts her at second in the GLIAC and fifth nationally in the 1500m.

Bloch joins Ashland's Ellie Jindra and Trevor Bassitt and Cody Stilwell of Ferris State as the Week 4 award winners of the 2018-19 outdoor track & field season.

Bloch and the Huskies will head down to Allendale, Michigan on April 20 for the Al Owens Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State University.
