HOUGHTON, Mich. – The championships season continues for the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski team as they travel to Ishpeming, Michigan for the 2020 NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships on February 22-23 from the Al Quaal Ski Area.

The Huskies hosted the 2020 CCSA Championships from the Michigan Tech Recreation Trails on February 15-16, and finished second overall with 357 combined team points, 55 points behind first-place Northern Michigan and 68 points ahead of third-place College of St. Scholastica. Aleksi Leino and Amanda Kautzer both finished second in their respective classic races on Sunday, and Reid Goble took third in the men's sprint race on Saturday. In addition, Michigan Tech scored 11 combined top 10 finishes in both the men's and women's races.

Michigan Tech finished second at last year's NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships, hosted by the Huskies, with Amanda Kautzer winning the 15K classic in white-out conditions. Sarah Goble scored a pair of third-place finishes during the weekend competition, while Patrick Acton finished fourth in both races in 2019.

Saturday's events will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 5K freestyle, followed by the men's 10K freestyle at 11:30 a.m. On Sunday, the men's 20K classic will be the first race of the day, and the women's 15K classic will conclude the weekend of competition at 12:30 p.m. Click on the link on the top of the page for live results and timing, provided by Superior Timing.
