Three Huskies named to Academic All-District Tennis Team

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech tennis student-athletes Chiara Heinz, Leon Sell, and Vitor Jordao have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. The organization recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Chiara Heinz was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention and went undefeated in regular season GLIAC doubles matches in the No. 3 position. She partnered with Emily Rose on six of the wins and Caoimhe McDonnell in the other. Heinz had a 5-2 record in her singles matches with three wins at No. 5 and two at No. 4. She has a 3.92 grade-point average in Engineering Management.

Leon Sell was also All-GLIAC Honorable Mention and teamed up with Jack Lin in the No. 1 doubles and the two went 3-3 in GLIAC matches. Sell also held a 1-4 record in singles, playing in the No. 3 slot all season. Sell maintains a 3.97 GPA in Management.

Vitor Jordao earned the award for the second straight season. He had three doubles wins on the year. He added three singles wins in both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, including a victory over NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure. He is also a recipient of the GLIAC's Pat Riepma Postgraduate Scholarship. Jordao holds a 3.9 GPA as a dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management with a minor in Spanish.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
