HOUGHTON, Mich.Blake Pietila earned his second straight shutout, and school record 13th of his career, as Michigan Tech swept St. Lawrence with a 3-0 victory Saturday. Nine different Huskies scored goals on the weekend as the Black and Gold improved to 4-2-1 overall.

"The penalty kill and goaltending were outstanding, and we got some timely scoring. I'm happy we got the win," Joe Shawhan said after his 99th win as head coach of the Huskies. "I thought our guys played hard, and I don't think we gave up a lot."

The Huskies pounded 14 shots on goal in the first period but couldn't sneak one past goaltender Emil Zetterquist.

Tech broke the ice 4:56 into the second period when Kyle Kukkonen stole the puck and created a 2-on-1. Ryland Mosley finished off the play for his third of the season.

"I just want to help the team win, but it feels good to chip in with some goals," Mosley said. "When you're playing with Logan and Kukks it's pretty easy. You just have to have your stick on the ice."

The Huskies weren't able to create any separation like they did Friday night. St. Lawrence got a power play with 4:27 left in the third and then went 6-on-4 after pulling the goaltender. The Saints hit the post behind Blake Pietila, but the puck stayed out.

Kyle Kukkonen made it a 2-0 lead with an empty net tally with 1:50 left in the third. Ryland Mosley returned the favor from the first goal with a feed up out of the defensive zone. Kukkonen made a move and shot it before crossing center ice for his third goal of the season. Chris Lipe also assisted.

Jack Works added to the lead 22 seconds later with a quick wrist shot under the glove of the goaltender. Arvid Caderoth assisted on the second of the season by Works.

Tech dominated in shots 27-18. Blake Pietila made 18 saves for the second night in a row, stopping five in the first, eight in the second, and five in the third for his 39th career win.

The Huskies were 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-4 on the power play.

Michigan Tech alumna and US Olympian Deedra Irwin was in attendance, and Tadych's Marketplace Foods donated 250 youth tickets to the game.

Tech heads to Bowling Green next weekend (Nov. 4-5) for the first CCHA road series of the season.
