MARQUETTE, Mich. – Michigan Tech earned a CCHA series split with a 5-2 victory at Northern Michigan Saturday (Nov. 13). The Huskies defeated the Wildcats at the Berry Events Center for the ninth straight time.

"I thought our goaltender was outstanding and we got those two huge power-play goals in the second," Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. "I thought our guys battled hard all night and again I thought Blake was incredible"

Down 2-1 midway through the second period, the Huskies scored four straight to take the win. Trenton Bliss tied it up at 14:09 with a power-play goal from Tommy Parrottino and Colin Swoyer. It was the second goal of the weekend for Bliss and the eighth in his career against NMU.

Arvid Caderoth gave the Huskies the lead 65 seconds later with a power-play goal from Bliss and Swoyer. It was Caderoth's first goal of the season and third of his career.

Logan Pietila scored an insurance goal 14:44 into the third to make it a 4-2 Tech lead. He settled a bouncing puck in the slot and fired in his second of the night and fifth of the season. Michael Karow was given an assist along with Justin Misiak.

NMU pulled its goaltender with over 4:30 remaining and Brian Halonen scored into the empty net for a 5-2 lead. Parrottino picked up his second assist of the night and third of the weekend on Halonen's sixth of the season and 38th of his career. Bliss also assisted.

Northern outshot Tech 29-22. Blake Pietila had 27 saves for the Huskies.

Pietila opened scoring 11:38 into the first when he finished off a centering feed from behind the net off the tape of Justin Misiak.

Hampus Eriksson tied the game 6:37 into the second period with assists going to Andrew Ghantous and Mikey Colella.

Hank Crone gave the home team the lead with a power-play goal 10:41 into the second period.

Tech was 2 for 5 on the power play and 3 for 4 on the penalty kill.

"It was another four-point weekend," added Shawhan. "We'll take every point we can get. We've lost only one game in regulation and it was a 2-1 game at Clarkson where we played really well."

The Huskies travel to Bemidji State next weekend for their first CCHA road trip of the year.
