THIS WEEKEND'S SERIES
• Michigan Tech travels to Ferris State this weekend in the final road series of the regular season.
• The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday at Ewigleben Ice Arena.
• Tech is 16-14-3 overall and 11-11-2-0 in the WCHA. The Huskies are fifth in the WCHA standings with 35 points and trail Minnesota State (62), Bemidji State (51), Northern Michigan (44), and Alaska (40).
• The Huskies and Bulldogs split their series on January 24-25 in Houghton.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
• Ferris State is 7-20-2 overall and 5-15-2 in the WCHA. The Bulldogs have lost 11 of 12 with the lone win coming over the Huskies. They have wins over Colgate, Miami, Bemidji State, Alaska, Alaska Anchorage, and Michigan Tech.
• The Bulldogs were picked eighth in the preseason coaches' poll and seventh in the media poll after going 10-23-3 overall and 7-18-3 overall last season.
• Bob Daniels is in his 28th season as head coach and has a career record of 461-509-106.
• Freshman defenseman Jake Willets leads the team with 20 points, and junior forward Marshall Moise has nine goals. Sophomore goaltender Roni Salmenkangas has a 3-8-0 record with a 3.66 goals-against average and .879 save percentage.

FIRST MEETING
Tech split with Ferris State at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena in their first meeting on January 24-25. The Huskies won 2-1 Friday and fell 2-1 Saturday. Raymond Brice and Seamus Donohue scored Friday, and Tommy Parrottino found the back of the net Saturday.

SERIES INFO
• Tech is 19-16-1 all-time against Ferris State in a series that dates back to 1982.
• The Huskies are 8-9-0 against the Bulldogs in Big Rapids.

HUSKY BITES
Alec Broetzman, Logan Pietila, and Tommy Parrottino have shorthanded goals this season. The Huskies only had two shortys in 2018-19 and one in 2017-18.
• 146 of Tech's 213 points (69 percent) have come from the sophomores and freshmen.
• 78 percent (63 of 81 goals) of the goals are from the underclassmen.
• Tech is 8-0 when scoring four or more goals.

AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Alex Smith has seven points (3G-4A) in 10 career games against FSU.
Seamus Donohue has five points (1G-4A) in seven games.
Raymond Brice, Greyson Reitmeier, Tommy Parrottino, Trenton Bliss, and Justin Misiak have three points in their careers against the Bulldogs.

LAST TIME OUT
• Tech split the annual Winter Carnival series against Lake Superior State last weekend. The Lakers won 7-3 Friday and the Huskies bounced back with a 4-3 victory in overtime Saturday.
Brian Halonen was named Winter Carnival MVP with two goals and two assists in the series. Alex Smith scored the game-winner in OT. Alec Broetzman had a goal each night while Colin Swoyer and Logan Pietila also scored Friday.
Robbie Beydoun started his fourth game of the season Saturday and stopped a career-high 39 shots in his second win of the season. His 39 saves were the most by a Tech goaltender this season.
Brian Halonen, Alec Broetzman, and Alex Smith each had a four-point weekend against the Lakers with three points on Saturday night.
Eric Gotz has three assists in the last four games. Trenton Bliss has four assists in the last five games.

100 GAMES
Matt Jurusik played his 100th collegiate game on February 1 at Alabama Huntsville. He appeared in 50 games for Wisconsin from 2015-17 before coming to Michigan Tech.
Seamus Donohue, Greyson Reitmeier, and Justin Misiak also hit the milestone earlier in the season.

HOBEY BAKER CANDIDATES
Trenton Bliss and Matt Jurusik are candidates for the 2020 Hobey Baker Award, given annually to college hockey's top player.

HUSKY HAT TRICKS
Logan Pietila had a hat trick in the GLI Championship Game with a goal in the second period and a pair in the third.
Tommy Parrottino had a natural hat trick Saturday at Bowling Green with two goals in the second period and one in the third.
Alec Broetzman had a natural hat trick on October 6 at Robert Morris.
• The last time Tech had three hat tricks in a season was 2003-04 when Chris Conner had two and Colin Murphy added one.
• The last time Tech had three hat tricks by three different players was 1991-92 with Jim Storm (twice), Jamie Steer, and John Young.

NONCONFERENCE
Tech finished 5-3-1 in nonconference play with wins over Arizona State, Michigan, Michigan State, Robert Morris, a tie with Clarkson, and losses to North Dakota and Clarkson, and ASU.

COACH SHAWHAN
• Head coach Joe Shawhan is in his third season behind the bench. His 22 wins in his first season tied for the most ever by a Michigan Tech coach. Jim Nahrgang won 22 games in 1982-83.
• Shawhan was hired on May 30, 2017, after serving as an assistant coach for the Huskies over the previous three seasons.
• Joe Shawhan won his 50th game as head coach of the Huskies on January 24, 2020 with a 2-1 victory over Ferris State.

PRESEASON ALL-WCHA
Brian Halonen and Matt Jurusik received votes on the coaches' Preseason All-WCHA Team.
Seamus Donohue received votes on the media's Preseason All-WCHA Team.
Blake Pietila (goaltender), Logan Pietila (forward), and Parker Saretsky (forward) received votes for the WCHA Preseason Media Rookie of the Year.

ALL-WCHA ROOKIE TEAM
Brian Halonen was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team last season after he led the Huskies—and all WCHA rookies—with 12 goals. He also added nine assists and was third on Tech with 21 points to rank third amongst WCHA freshmen. Six of his points came on the power play with three goals and three assists. Halonen also ranked third amongst league freshmen with 87 shots on goal.

Tyler Rockwell – Father John played goaltender for the Huskies from 1975-79.
Cooper Watson – Older brother Cliff was a two-time team captain in his four-year career from 2013-17.
• Blake and Logan Pietila – Twin brothers with numerous cousins who have played for the Huskies
Brian Halonen and David Raisanen – Brian's father and David's mother are brother and sister from Calumet. Halonen's first cousins Blake, Chad, and Aaron Pietila from his mother's side also played for the Huskies.

LOOKING AHEAD
• Tech has next weekend off before wrapping up the regular season on February 28 and 29 with a home and away series with Northern Michigan. The two teams will meet on Marquette on Friday and Houghton on Saturday.
• Seniors Raymond Brice, Keegan Ford, Matt Jurusik, Todd Kiilunen, and Alex Smith will be honored after the final regular-season game on February 29 for Senior Night.
